I recently got back from attending the basic course at Pathways to Successful Living Seminars, which is a personal improvement seminar in Chicago, Illinois. This provided me with the opportunity to take a breather from living in The Big Smoke (London, for those reading this who live outside the U.K.). I got to meet some really lovely people and had an opportunity to reflect on where I’ve come from and where I want to go to.
Samuel Johnson the English, essayist, poet, lexicographer and all round know-it-all once said: “when you’re tired of London, you’re tired of life”. I don’t think that’s completely true Sammy. In your day you never had the London Underground, commuters and emails to deal with.
As a result I realised that I haven’t been spending enough time on myself. I don’t exercise and my diet could do with a bit of tweaking. I don’t think it’s necessary for me to go on a diet, but just to monitor what I’ve been eating and make some adjustments as necessary.
As a result I’ve done a bit of research into some fitness training programmes and I’m going to see how I get on with getting fit and healthy. The two go hand in hand and are not the same.
By taking the time to invest in myself in this way I know that I’ll have more energy and be able to sleep better. So that way I can continue to move forward with my business and my goals.
What about you? Are you investing too much time in one area of your life at the expense of another? Perhaps it’s about time you had a quick look at that and worked out how you can create a better balance in what you’re doing?
